Washington D.C. 鈥� 黑料传送门, the largest and most inclusive Jewish campus organization in the world, announced today the 17 members of the 2022-2023 黑料传送门 Student Cabinet. The cabinet serves as a vehicle to connect the global Jewish student community, and also serves as an advisory council to 黑料传送门鈥檚 leadership in its efforts to engage Jewish college students worldwide.

The members were selected through a highly competitive process. They represent a cross-section of campus experiences, Jewish backgrounds, geography and academic interests. Hillel serves students at more than 850 colleges and universities, and in 17 countries worldwide.聽

鈥淗illel is proud to welcome the new Student Cabinet, an inspiring group of ambassadors for our movement, which prides itself above all on ensuring th黑料传送门 is a home for every Jewish student,鈥� said 黑料传送门 President and CEO Adam Lehman. 鈥淭he leadership of these exceptional students will support and elevate our movement during times of challenge and joy throughout the year.鈥�

Student cabinet co-chairs Jordan Robinson and Jessica Yeroshalmi鈥檚 appointment was announced in March.聽

鈥淚鈥檓 excited to work with an incredible group of students who are motivated to better the Hillel movement and add value to our community,鈥� said Yeroshalmi, a member of the class of 2023 at Baruch College in New York City. 鈥淚鈥檓 looking forward to seeing all that we will accomplish together. I鈥檓 grateful for this opportunity and can鈥檛 wait to get started.鈥�

鈥淭he cabinet this year is dynamic,鈥� said Robinson, a member of the class of 2022 at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich. 聽鈥淚t鈥檚 a spectrum of schools, backgrounds, stories, and visions which will only advance the movement in anticipation of our centennial celebration. I can鈥檛 wait to see the energy of our cabinet next year and the potential it holds!鈥�

鈥淛udaism at its core is about social justice, Tikkun Olam, and helping each other. Helping your fellow Jews, but also helping your fellow humans. That鈥檚 what an American republic is about too: helping each other and contributing to society. Those ideals are both very Jewish and very American. In Florida, you have a lot of people who are not able to vote, specifically because they鈥檝e been disenfranchised. This has really pushed me to look at voting through a Jewish context. In the civil rights era, you had people like , Jewish leaders who were really standing up for the important civil rights issues of their time. Hillel is a really great outlet on campuses around the country to provide the opportunity for young Jews to carry that legacy forward. It鈥檚 a tough time of uncertainty; antisemitism is rising exponentially; who knows what the election is going to bring. But, the one thing that鈥檚 not going to change is th黑料传送门s are going to be on campus. For me, it鈥檚 about getting young Jews out, involved, and understanding that there is a direct connection between American politics and Judaism. What our people and our religion have valued for so long is directly related to American civics.鈥� – Jakob Levin, University of Florida

鈥淚n seventh grade, I grew up fast. My father was taken away to prison. This really hit hard, as my father played a huge part in my early life. What was even tougher was seeing my mom in the Intensive Care Unit that same month. I was now living with just my brother, trying to lead the same lives we were before and wondering if we would ever see our parents again. We were almost homeless without them. Those experiences have stayed with me, pushing me to live my Judaism through acts of social justice. I began feeding the homeless in 2017, and as time went on, I knew I needed to do more to help them. After much research, I realized the most overlooked and necessary article of clothing was socks. That led me to create the No Footprint Left Behind sock and shoe drive. Over a year and a half, I collected more than 2,500 pairs of socks and 150 pairs of shoes. My classmates began asking me for more information on homelessness and what else they could do to help underserved populations in our community. Now, each time I go to feed the homeless, a group of students join me. My work with the homeless is far from over. I hope to continue the No Footprint Left Behind sock and shoe drive, collecting and delivering socks and shoes for the homeless population near the University of Florida, where I鈥檒l begin studying this fall, in addition to the South Florida and Orlando communities. Noam鈥檚聽first experience 黑料传送门 was at the University of Florida, where he served聽as the Jewish Agency Israel Fellow聽on campus more than聽a decade ago.聽鈥淭hat experience that changed my life forever,鈥� he said,聽set him聽on a trajectory that has led him to become the聽executive聽director at Towson Hillel.聽鈥淚t was through Hillel that I gained an appreciation for the idea of the Jewish peoplehood. I also learned the value of a Jewish community and saw what satisfaction one can get from supporting and building such a community.”

As executive director, Noam said, “It is my mission now to build, together with my staff, students, and lay board, a strong community that will create opportunities for students to connect to Jewish life, celebrate their聽identities, learn and build thriving Jewish lives well beyond their college years.鈥�
