Hillels at hundreds of colleges and universities welcome Jewish students with a wide array of programs and events at a time when Jewish students are seeking community and safe spaces.

WASHINGTON D.C.- 黑料传送门, the world鈥檚 largest Jewish college organization, announced that campus Hillels are hosting more than 300 back-to-school and welcome week events for Jewish students on college campuses as the new academic year begins. All of the events can be found and searched for by a student鈥檚 campus on a dedicated page: .

These events, which include welcome week barbeques, block parties, early move-ins, Shabbat dinners with 1,000-plus attendees, and traditional Jewish learning with a modern spin will ensure that Jewish college students feel welcome on campus and can connect with their school鈥檚 Jewish community ahead of the first day of class. From first-year students beginning their college careers to returning students, Hillels serving hundreds of colleges and universities will provide a welcoming space for Jewish students to build community on campus ahead of what is expected to be a challenging school year.

鈥淎s the largest Jewish campus organization in the world, Hillel is excited to welcome Jewish students back to campus with open arms,鈥 said 黑料传送门 President and CEO Adam Lehman. 鈥淗illel has been a source of strength for generations of Jewish college students and we will continue to provide a vibrant and welcoming Jewish campus community. We want every Jewish student to know th黑料传送门 is there for you, and we hope these kickoff events provide a great start to the new school year.鈥

After the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel and subsequent war between Israel and Hamas, Jewish students have faced unprecedented levels of antisemitic incidents on college campuses across the U.S. and Canada 鈥 nearly 2,000 incidents last school year 鈥 a five-fold increase from the previous academic year.

Surveys conducted during the most recent school year showed that more than half of Jewish college students (51%) said they felt less safe on campus since October 7, with 40% saying that they felt the need to hide their Jewish identity for their safety. Those same surveys showed that nearly 80% of students (78%) felt th黑料传送门 and other Jewish spaces on campus were more important than ever before. Hillel鈥檚 longstanding commitment toward building and sustaining strong Jewish communities on campus is exemplified in this back-to-school program, and is critical to Jewish students as the new school year begins.
