Averaging over 200 members, the Smith College Jewish Community (SCJC) is both student-operated and the primary organization for Jewish life on the Smith campus. SCJC’s reach is wide, and includes holding weekly Shabbat services, working in coordination with the Smith Center for Religious and Spiritual Life (CRSL) to ensure students have all the resources necessary for Passover and the High Holidays (both hosted on campus), maintaining a relationship with the Jewish Studies program, and helping to organize a variety of other educational and cultural events for the Jewish community. Events are frequently held in the Kosher K, a dedicated Jewish space on campus featuring a community room and co-op dairy kitchen that is used by a group of student cooks to prepare Shabbat dinner every week. Above all, SCJC’s main goal is to ensure programming is accessible to as many Jewish students as possible, regardless of their denomination or relationship with Judaism before coming to Smith. Outside of SCJC, Smith offers Kosher meals Monday through Friday lunch, and allows students to reserve meals on days the dining hall is closed. Visit this .
